Dr. Rajesh Chand Arya is Senior Consultant in Cardiac Anaesthesia, with extensive expertise in cardiac anaesthesia and peri-op. TEE, ECMO and critical care.

Academic qualifications: MBBS graduate from Dr. P.D.M. Medical College, Amravati, he completed Diploma Anaesthesiology from Seth GS Medical College & KEM hospitals, Mumbai. He qualified Diplomat National Board (DNB) Anaesthesiology. Dr. Rajesh also holds Diploma in Hospital Administration. He pursued advanced training in peri-op TEE at Heart Centre, Leipzig, Germany. He is certified by Japanese board (JBPoT), National Board of Echocardiography (NBE), USA; European Society of Cardiovascular imaging (ESCVI) and European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and Indian Association of Cardiovascular & Thoracic Anaesthesiologists (IACTA) in peri-op TEE. He is one of the few anaesthesiologists in India to receive the “Fellowship of American Society of Echocardiography (FASE)”. Dr. Arya has been recipient of “Honorary Fellowship in TEE” and “Honorary Fellowship in Cardiac Anaesthesia” by IACTA.

Dr. Rajes Arya has been actively involved in teaching and training the science and practice of cardiac anaesthesia and TEE. He is founder and past chief editor of online TEE training website “IACTA Echo Library” (www.iactaecholibrary.co.in).

Clinical experience: Dr. Arya had been a lecturer at KEM Hospital, Mumbai; registrar at G.B. Pant Hospital, New Delhi; clinical assistant at Dharamvira Heart Centre, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. He worked as Consultant Cardiac anaesthesiologist at Hero DMC Heart Institute, a unit of Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana for a period of 25 years. Dr. Arya served as “Visiting Professor” at Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bangalore.

Dr. Rajesh is a recognized teacher, trainer and examiner for Fellowship TEE (FTEE) and Fellowship in cardiac anaesthesia (FIACTA) course conducted by IACTA.

Publications and presentations: Dr. Arya has been an active researcher, authored two chapters in books, more than 35 scientific papers. As a researcher, he has landmark medical research work in collaboration with IIT Ropar which have been published in international medical and technology journals. He has conducted TEE workshops at 7 foreign nations and all around in India. He has delivered more than 150 guest lectures.

Social responsibility: Dr. Arya has been working in promotion of voluntary blood donation for more than 35 yrs. and has donated blood 158 times (probably highest by any medical person in world). He has developed a website www.helpdonateblood.com where the needy patient can reach out to voluntary donors.  Dr. Arya has been honoured by the States of Maharashtra and Punjab for his significant contribution to voluntary blood donation awareness.
